Figurative
A mode of painting that I developed the synopsis for at an early age. It is when my focus is about rendering an object as it relates to its environment. The image relies on acute detail for it’s success; light, surface texture, dimensional form play strong roles in the composition.

Meta
I have been interested in the idea that genius is not an object that one might possess, rather it is an entity that is alloyed to take possession of an object or figure. In this vein of work, decision making made during the process of painting is inspired largely on the markings that had been laid down previously. Often each painting will be made up of a sequence of layers that build off of the information that is left by the earlier layers. An outline or plan for a composition is not laid out before hand as to leave room for the painting and the act of painting to become a vessel for a spirit, genius or a metaphysical entity.
